Dean Arceneaux
designed the Louisiana Cajun flag in
1965.
The three Fleurs-de Lis (flower of
the lily) on a blue field symbolizes the French origin
of the Acadians.
The gold star on a white field
represents Our Lady of the Assumption, patroness of the
Acadians. The star also symbolizes the active
participation of the Acadians in the American revolution
against the British.
